'I saw an angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.'

– Michelangelo

Our wounds and the scars we carry are the consequence of what life throws at us, they mark us in ways so particular we can know ourselves just by looking at them. Insights into what caused our pain brings clarity and relief to begin a process of healing and integration. Understanding how old wounds still affect us in the present, even when we don’t fully realise it, makes it possible to move forward towards a place of resilience. Personal growth depends on knowing what holds us back and what gets in the way of our self-realisation, sense of well-being and healthier, respectful relationships.

Having someone to facilitate this process is crucial; the right therapeutic relationship can achieve what other relationships can’t: an objective, fully trusting dynamic that focusses entirely on your needs and desires as well as your fears; a relationship that is an effective balance between nurture that is reparative and challenge that is transformative.

You may be feeling down, unmotivated, anxious or angry and need a safe, impartial space to work through what's troubling you or holding you back, to find a clearer perspective on behaviour patterns and coping mechanisms that no longer serve you. I will guide and nurture you in your process so we can reflect deeply on your concerns and gain the necessary insight into your subconscious drives to discover the change that will enable you to move forward in your life and flourish as your authentic self.

EXPERIENCE

A member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), I trained in Integrative Therapy at Mary Ward Centre in London. I have been a successful restaurateur, artist and writer and my own life challenges and my journey through personal therapy inspired me to do this rewarding work. In addition to private practice, I work as a volunteer counsellor at ELOP, an LGBTQ+ counselling service where I see a diverse group of clients, both individuals and couples, including trans and non-binary people, with issues around sex and sexuality. I have a decade of experience in drug and alcohol recovery as well as other process addictions like sex and porn. I also specialise in working with couples with relationship difficulties. I have facilitated group therapy work and have experience with developmental trauma and post traumatic stress.

As an integrative therapist, I respond to your individual needs and cover issues around anxiety, self-esteem, depression, trauma, sexuality, gender, sex and relationships, grief and work stress. I draw from psychodynamic, humanistic, CBT and person-centred approaches, focussing also on your somatic experience. Working in a trauma-informed way, I focus on attachment patterns and how our nervous systems link to our emotions and influence our behaviour and how we can adapt and direct these in order to grow, flourish and overcome adversity.

FEES

Sessions are £70 (couples £100) and last for 50 minutes. I reserve some low-cost spaces for lower income clients. I'm happy to have a free 20 min phone or video introductory chat about your needs and answer any questions you may have; we can then arrange an initial session for us to decide together if we are a good fit for your particular needs.

LOCATION

I see clients in person at: Alpha House, 100 Borough High Street, London Bridge, SE1 1LB

Online sessions are conducted via Zoom video link.
